S/S 18.

Spring/Summer 2018 trends:

As S/S 18 kicks in I thought I would do a small post on the four main categories and the trends I think are key this season, practical and what I’ll be wearing. All my pictures are from Pinterest. I favoured what caught my eye and what I think are the most ware-able from looking at what my favourite bloggers are wearing because they are who I go to for my fashion fix and of course, I get inspired from the catwalk too.

What would summer be without sunglasses? My number one choice of small shaped frames are here to stay. Last summer we seen a burst of colourful shades hitting the streets. Everyone was wearing them from your best-loved fashion blogger, top models and even stylish celebrities. I love this trend, I’m so glad to see it continue this summer, mainly because I have a tiny head and they’re the only style that suits me. This sunny season I want to invest in a pair of the vintage style Raybans and then I’m thinking a cute coloured cat eye from the high street. I am the queen of sunglasses I have countless pairs at home, the high street just makes it that bit more accessible to some of our favourite on trend fashion pieces. H&M are my go to for sunnies.

Keeping on accessories we’re seeing a lot of cross over bags with thick straps. My go to look is to have the straps super short and wear it across your chest. I can guarantee you will have seen a lot of bloggers doing this style with a chunky jumper over the last season and this will be going forward into S/S. Woven bags are going to be an essential this summer, I’m waiting until I’m away to buy one this year. Yes, the high street do significant ones too but you won’t get anything as unique then from local stores on vacation. I got the cutest small cross over one from Pennys (Primark) last summer and I literally used it everyday on my holiday.

Don’t forget the classic bum bag. This has made a huge comeback. We are no longer slagging the middle age tourist for wearing this with their crazy Hawaiian print shirt. We now want to be part of the bum bag crew because it’s what all the “cool girls” have at the moment.

Moving on to colours. We definitely see the classic nude palette coming through, Simone Rocha did a lot of classic whites for this season.

The ice cream tone range has to be my favourite. I love pastel colours but the ice cream tones are just that bit more muted in colour.

Then of course it wouldn’t be summer wardrobe without bursts of vibrant colour. We are seeing a lot of head to toe in singular block colours or vibrant print coming through.

Now onto the styles we can incorporate into our wardrobes. One shoulder tops are back in. The off the shoulder top is still around but we are leaning to our one shoulder tops this year. Its like a one cold shoulder or having two straps but one will have a sleeve if that makes sense? The more dramatic and frilly the top the better.

Two tone denim is a must for anybody. Thick side panelling in a contrasting colour is what we are going to be seeing everywhere. The raw finish on our denim hems is sticking too.

We are also exploring our inner 80/90s chick. The puff sleeves are making a come back for summer. Brands like H&M are doing that button up style blouse with puff sleeves. I’m loving them, perfect to add to your favourite pair of denims to spice your wardrobe this season.

Our final category is fabrics.

Plastic, thanks to Chanel is a cool original fabric to keep an eye out for. Some brands are creating edgy and fashion forward trench coats in this plastic/leather inspired look. Only the brave fashionistas will be rocking it this year.

Sheer, everything seems to have a touch of sheer. Be it a top you wear under a vest top to a sheer flow maxi dress you’ll see this light fabric everywhere.

Check fabric, big bold coloured check fabrics are what we will be wearing this season. It can be a super edgy head to toe look or team it up with some check pants and a bright coloured top.

A bonus one is our forever loved summer prints. May they be florals, stripes, dots or leaf prints. We love a good print for summer, mixing prints is going to be how I’m going to update my wardrobe this season.

What are your favours trends this S/S, will you be wearing the Chanel inspired plastic look?

Thanks for reading :)
